About Christopher

Colonel Millett graduated from Durham University in 1988 and was awarded Masters Degrees in Public Health Medicine in 2006 and Defence Studies in 2012.

Following service with the University Officer Training Corps, Colonel Millett gained business experience with Andersen Consulting and Investec Bank before re-engaging with the British Army in 1995.  He served with the RAMC and is now a General Staff Officer representing UK National Interests as a Liaison Officer with the US Army Medical HQ located in San Antonio, Texas.

Colonel Millett has wide-ranging operational experience from service on major combat operations around the globe, and humanitarian missions with the UN and International Committee of the Red Cross.  Colonel Millett commanded the Joint Force Medical Group in Afghanistan in 2009/10, responsible for providing life-saving treatment, hospital care and medical evacuation to approx. 30,000 UK, US, Danish, Estonian and Afghan national forces.  More recently, he has served in Africa providing humanitarian advice alongside French-led forces, and as MODs Liaison with UN OCHA for UK cross-government Humanitarian and Disaster Relief response to Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Colonel Millett attended the UK Advanced Command and Staff Course in 2012; this senior level operational & strategic planning qualification prepared him for engagement and liaison with cross-government departments (NGOs & IOs; DFID, ICRC, UN) and the Five Powers Defence Arrangement in Singapore and Malaysia.  In addition, he was responsible for writing and conducting Defence Engagements in South Korea & Japan. Colonel Millett has liaised with and worked alongside International Special Operations Forces and UK counter terror experts, and participated in the development of Joint Operating Principles with cross-government partner agencies including the Police, Fire and Rescue Service and the NHS National Ambulance Resilience Unit.

Colonel Millett is a member of the Faculty of Conflict and Catastrophe Medicine at The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries and enjoys International Travel & Exploration.  He participates in a variety of sports and is committed to raising money for the charity Hounds for Heroes.  His partner Caroline is a lawyer for a Legal 500 firm based in the City.
