Ian Wakefield is Vice President & General Manager for Becton Dickinson (BD) in the UK & Ireland, leading the organisation across the Connected Care, BioPharma Systems, Medical Essentials and Interventional segments.
A Medical Scientist by training, he completed his studies at the University of Cape Town. Ian has extensive experience in the healthcare sector in Africa and spent seven years as General Manager for BD Africa, driving strategies to advance the company’s regional goals and strengthen healthcare through public–private partnerships.
He is committed to fostering cultures of transparency and trust and is a strong advocate for diversity, having actively contributed to BD’s MEA Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
