ABHI’s US Accelerator is heading to America’s East Coast, opening doors for UK HealthTech companies at some of the country’s most prestigious hospitals, research institutions and innovation hubs, and creating new opportunities for international growth and collaboration.
Spanning Boston, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and the Washington DC region, the mission will provide participating companies with opportunities to engage directly with senior clinical, innovation and commercial leaders, explore potential partnerships and gain valuable insights into the US healthcare market.
The programme includes visits to internationally recognised institutions, including Boston Children’s Hospital, Mass General Brigham, Northwell Health, Hackensack Meridian Health, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Johns Hopkins.
Working alongside regional partners, including Choose New Jersey and the City of Philadelphia, ABHI has developed an itinerary designed to help companies understand the opportunities and challenges of entering the US market, while building relationships with the healthcare organisations that can support their growth.
Professor Shafi Ahmed, internationally recognised surgeon, innovator and entrepreneur, will join the mission, bringing his extensive experience of clinical innovation and international healthcare collaboration. Professor Ahmed said:
“As a clinician and innovator, I have had the privilege of working with healthcare systems and innovation communities around the world, and there is something quite unique about what ABHI has created through its US Accelerator. We have a fantastic group of UK HealthTech companies joining us, and I am excited to be part of the journey and help them build the relationships that can turn ambition into real opportunities.”

Supporting UK HealthTech Companies to Scale Internationally
Since its launch in 2018, the ABHI US Accelerator has supported more than 120 companies, helping participating businesses generate over $150 million in reported new business.
Through its programme of international missions, market intelligence and direct engagement with healthcare providers, the Accelerator helps UK companies navigate the complexities of the US market and establish relationships that can lead to long-term commercial opportunities.
The upcoming East Coast mission builds on this track record, offering participating companies the opportunity to showcase their technologies, understand the priorities of leading US healthcare systems and explore new routes to international growth.
