ABHI US Accelerator News: Aide Health Announces US Expansion through Landmark Partnership with Temple Health to Transform Type 2 Diabetes Care

Topic : News and Press, International Type : Press Release

UK digital health company Aide Health has launched its first US programme through a new partnership with Temple Health, targeting one of healthcare’s fastest growing and most costly conditions - type 2 diabetes.

The collaboration, part of the 2026 Clinical Care Innovation Grant programme funded by Independence Blue Cross (IBX), will support the development of new app support models designed to improve patient outcomes, reduce barriers to care, and lower costs.

The partnership marks a significant milestone in Aide Health’s international expansion, building on proven success within the NHS.

Type 2 diabetes is now widely seen as a modern pandemic, affecting more than 537 million people worldwide. Despite treatment advances, nearly one in two patients face ongoing challenges controlling blood sugar, driving avoidable complications and rising healthcare costs.

Approximately 20% of Temple Health’s outpatient population is living with diabetes, reflecting a substantial cohort with complex, ongoing needs. While primary care physicians lead management, effective care requires continuous, high-touch support, including proactive outreach, education, and close monitoring, to drive better outcomes over time.

The new programme, “My Health Aide,” will introduce Aide Health’s conversational AI platform designed to support patients outside traditional clinical settings.

Through short, daily interactions, the tool helps patients adhere to their medication, monitor their condition, and access trusted health information on demand. Clinicians, meanwhile, receive real-time data insights, enabling earlier intervention and more personalised care.

The platform has been specifically designed for low-resource and underserved communities, using minimal data and a simple interface that is used by patients in their 80s. The rollout will begin across two primary care practices within Temple Health, where diabetes prevalence is high.

The programme is led by Dr Janet Lee, Assistant Dean for Clinical Research and Director of the Laboratory for Implementation and Dissemination Science (LIDS) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, alongside a multidisciplinary clinical and research team.

It will evaluate whether AI-driven support can improve medication adherence and glycaemic control, while also examining how both patients and clinicians engage with the technology in everyday care.

Brian Snyder, Co-founder and COO of Aide Health, said:

“My Health Aide is a landmark moment for us. Our first US programme, built on proven NHS outcomes and backed by Independence Blue Cross. Partnering with the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Temple Health, a research-driven health system embedded in its community, is exactly where we want to be as we grow in the US. I grew up in Philadelphia cheering on the Owls, so working with Temple University feels like coming home to do something that matters.”

Dr Janet Lee, said:

“My Health Aide represents an important opportunity to strengthen access to the support patients need to achieve better outcomes. By reaching patients earlier with timely, evidence-based interventions, this initiative aims to improve disease management and long-term engagement. We are excited to partner with patients and incorporate their perspectives into implementation. Aide Health’s scalable, patient-centered model and deep community commitment make them a strong partner in this effort.”

Aide Health is a UK-based digital health company focused on making prescribed care more effective. Its conversational AI platform supports patients with chronic conditions to improve adherence, build health literacy, and better manage their health, while giving clinicians real-time insights to deliver more responsive care.

Temple Health is a major academic health system based in Philadelphia, PA, and home to the primary teaching hospital for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.

The partnership was developed following Aide Health’s participation in the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) US Accelerator, a programme designed to support the growing role of UK health tech in addressing global healthcare challenges. A 2025 ABHI visit to Temple University's Innovation Nest, through the City of Philadelphia and the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, served as the catalyst for this partnership.

"The Innovation Nest serves as a gateway for international partners to connect with the Philadelphia region and the broader U.S. innovation ecosystem, while also creating pathways for Temple research to reach global markets,” said Josh Gladden, vice president for research at Temple University.

“Temple University is pleased to see the partnership between Aide Health and Temple Health continue to grow, reflecting our approach to advancing research by building partnerships that translate our discoveries into real-world impact.”
