The Shelford Group Impact Report 2025/26
The Shelford Group Impact Report 2025/26 outlines how the network of ten of England’s largest teaching and research NHS trusts is collaborating to improve healthcare delivery, drive research and innovation, and shape national policy.
The report highlights the Group’s role in supporting the NHS 10 Year Health Plan, particularly through efforts to improve productivity, strengthen research capability, and advance system-wide collaboration across healthcare, academia, government, and industry.
Key activities include policy engagement on NHS reforms such as neighbourhood health models and Advanced Foundation Trusts, initiatives to improve outpatient productivity and reduce missed appointments, and programmes like the Shelford Surgical Training in Advanced Robotic Technology (START) initiative to develop future surgical expertise.
The Group also continues to lead major workforce and safety initiatives, including the widely used Safer Nursing Care Tools, while supporting clinical research, partnerships with organisations such as ABHI and the Russell Group, and collaborative projects aimed at improving patient outcomes and NHS efficiency.
