Topic : News and Press Type : Report
Welcome to ABHI’s third annual Gender Equality in HealthTech report, our flagship insight into the workplace realities, leadership experiences, and progress toward equity across the UK’s HealthTech sector.
This year, over 110 professionals contributed to the survey, offering honest reflections on representation, organisational culture, and career progression. Though signs of progress are clear, the data also highlights persistent challenges:
- 64% of women in leadership roles say they have been treated differently, a notable rise from last year.
- 62% have faced resistance when leading male colleagues, with over 30% attributing it directly to gender.
- 87% of all respondents report experiencing imposter syndrome, rising to 41% of women who say it occurs frequently.
- The gender pay gap remains a barrier, cited by 38% of women, compared to 0% of men.
- Representation matters: 23% of women say gender balance in leadership has directly supported their career.
The report also charts growing support for inclusive leadership, flexible working, and values-led cultures, now seen by 66% of respondents as the most important driver of leadership success.
At ABHI, we are committed to championing equity and inclusion across HealthTech. Gender equality is not just a goal, it is fundamental to building a more innovative, productive, and compassionate sector that reflects the communities we serve.
