Unlocking HealthTech Innovation in Nottingham

Venue: The Orchard Hotel University of Nottingham Beeston Ln, Nottingham NG7 2RJ

Start: Thursday 02 May 2024 10:45

End: Thursday 02 May 2024 16:15

On 2nd May, we invite ABHI members to meet with Nottingham's HealthTech leaders, including Anthony May OBE, CEO of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust as well as senior leaders from the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University.

ABHI has a series of partnerships with key UK city regions, all designed to help stimulate HealthTech development and adoption at a local level, which can be scaled nationally. This includes Nottingham - a city, and wider region, that is quickly becoming a HealthTech hub.

Nottingham has a compelling offer, and the East Midlands accounts for almost 10% of UK HealthTech employment. It is home to prestigious institutions such as the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University, alongside numerous joint NHS/academic centres of research and clinical excellence. The region benefits from strong ties to the local NHS infrastructure including state-of-the-art facilities for device testing and assessment in real-world clinical settings. This synergy has positioned Nottingham as a dynamic centre for HealthTech advancement.

The session is designed to build stronger relationships between Nottingham’s NHS partners, ABHI members, and HealthTech research experts, supporting the development of technologies that meet the needs of patients and NHS, and accelerating the uptake and spread of research and innovation.

Tour Details - Clinical Research Facility and Trent Sim Centre
We encourage you to take up the opportunity to tour the NIHR Nottingham Clinical Research Facility (CRF) and the Trent Simulation and Clinical Skills Centre - both based in the Queens Medical Centre. Co-located with the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre, the Clinical Research Facility has more than 3000m2 of purpose-built adult and paediatric inpatient research space in one of the biggest hospitals in the UK.

The Trent Sim Centre comprises a full immersion high-fidelity simulation suite where in-situ simulation events can be created reflecting most clinical settings. Scenarios to evaluate clinical interventions and the introduction of new technology can be created with structured human factors analysis and feedback. In addition, the clinical skills facility offers more traditional hands-on clinical training, including surgical skills, resuscitation courses and a range of clinical competencies.
