The Carter Pathology Review: What It Means for HealthTech

In July 2026, the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) published its Pathology Transformation Review, chaired by Lord Carter of Coles, setting out a series of recommendations for the future of UK pathology services.
Its findings reinforce many of the priorities set out in the NHS 10-Year Health Plan, including digital transformation, productivity, workforce resilience and more integrated models of care.
For this ABHI member webinar, David Wells, Chief Executive of IBMS, will provide an overview of the Review and share his perspective on what its findings mean for the future of pathology and the HealthTech industry.
The discussion will explore the role of technology in supporting more productive and integrated pathology services, including digital pathology, AI, laboratory automation and interoperability, as well as what industry should be considering as diagnostic services continue to evolve.
The session will conclude with an opportunity for ABHI members to put their questions directly to David.
