As a leading NHS Trust Barts' mission goes beyond delivering outstanding care, with the commitment to accelerating the development of new medicines, technologies, achieved through deep industry partnerships and applying innovation in live hospital settings.
Launched in November 2025, during London Life Sciences Week, the Barts Life Sciences Cluster is an ambitious collaborative public private partnership between Barts Health NHS Trust, Lateral a specialist life sciences developer and HIG Capital a global investor, to create a dedicated health innovation campus in Whitechapel for the diverse 2.5m population of East London and beyond.
To accelerate partnerships and innovation in clinical practice, the Barts Life Sciences Cluster will be a clinically led initiative that brings together world‑class clinical expertise, research, and industry to drive breakthroughs in healthcare and medical science.
Located immediately adjacent to the Royal London Hospital, will be the first cluster building, Cavell Street which it is a fully consented building designed to support the next generation of life science companies in direct partnership with the NHS.
Before construction begins, they are offering the unique opportunity for early co‑creation with industry, enabling organisations to shape a bespoke space designed to deliver real, lasting value.
