Bruce Ash
Chair of the Panel
After graduating in Economics and Business Administration from Bath University in 1973 Bruce spent most of his career in the healthcare sector, initially working in a variety of corporate and strategic roles for the Dickinson Robinson Group, prior to managing two of their medical device divisions.
In 1987 Bruce relocated from Bristol to Lancashire joining Vernon Carus Ltd as an executive director, becoming MD in 1990, which he continued doing until the company was acquired in 2008.
During this period Bruce was also on the executive of ABHI from its inception, as well as chairing both the UK and European wound care associations. Bruce also held various advisory and non executive positions both in the private and public sectors including Deputy Chair of NTAC (NHS Technology Adoption Centre) and Chair of Mediliink in the North West.
More recently Bruce has been involved with the AHSNs since their creation and has served as Vice Chair of the Innovation Agency, the AHSN for the North West, and continued working with ABHI, acting as an advisor and Chair of the Code of Practice complaints panel.
"Having been involved with ABHI since it was formed, and a member of the working group that initiated the Code of Ethical Business Practice, I was very pleased to be asked to take on the role of Chair of the Complaints Panel. ABHI have a commitment to ensure that our sector maintain the highest ethical standards which underpins our reputation with all our stakeholders. More recently, working within the NHS has reinforced my views about the importance of having robust and transparent processes that enhance trust and confidence in our HealthTech industry.”
