Topic : News and Press Type : Press Release

Application Window: 8 September – 8 November 2025

The Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) has opened applications for its 2026/27 US and Middle East Accelerator programmes, designed to support UK HealthTech companies looking to grow and scale in two of the world’s most dynamic healthcare markets.

Now entering its ninth year, the ABHI US Accelerator has a strong track record of commercial success, enabling UK companies to establish meaningful connections with over 35 leading hospitals, 20+ academic health systems, GPOs, insurers, and investors across the US. Meanwhile, the ABHI Middle East Accelerator, which launched in 2025, offers unique access to health systems, insurers, and professional bodies across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the wider GCC region.

Real Commercial Impact

Since 2018, the ABHI US Accelerator has supported over 100 HealthTech companies to take the next step:

  • Companies have generated over $150 million in new business as a result of participating in the programme.
  • Companies typically form 4–5 working relationships with major US health systems, ranging from trial sites to full-scale commercial partnerships.
  • The programme has directly led to over 70 clinical trials and pilot studies in 12 US states.
  • Contracts secured by participants have ranged from $250,000 to $60 million, with many companies reporting a 10–20x return on investment in the first year.

The Middle East programme is about to enter its second year supporting companies to build connections with hospital systems, distributors, and professional services, and providing them with the confidence to do business in the region.

The Accelerators offer:

  • Introductions to Key Stakeholders - Including three missions to market over the course of the year, with introductions to health systems, payers, and professional services.
  • A Learning Programme - Hosted by in-market partners and experts, they will cover topics such as the local health innovation ecosystem, regulation and legalities to support setting up business and partnerships, as well as advice on accessing investment and distributor networks.
  • Access to a Network of Experts - Connect with market experts in the UK and the in-market, including legal, procurement, regulation and market strategy, to run ideas past and test your solution
  • Membership in a cohort of like-minded, high-growth UK HealthTech companies.

Paul Benton, Managing Director - International, ABHI, commented: “Both our US and Middle East Accelerators have been built to deliver results. They offer a gateway to international success through hands-on support, deep market access, and commercial introductions developed over decades. We are proud to see our UK HealthTech alumni thriving globally and encourage ambitious innovators to apply for the 2026/27 programmes.”

Ruben Rathnasingham, Asst. Dean for Health Product Innovation, Dell Medical School, partner of the US Accelerator, stated: “The ABHI US Accelerator connects us with some of the most forward-thinking HealthTech companies from the UK. Through this programme, we’ve been able to explore several partnerships and pilots that are directly improving patient outcomes.”

James Davis, CTO, RDi Inicio and US Accelerator alumni said: “Thanks to ABHI, we were able to engage directly with high-level decision-makers. A highlight for us was a trade mission to Florida, during which we were introduced to the CIO at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. This eventually led to us signing a three-year contract with a total value of just under $400,000.”

Sarah Marsh, COO, Infix Support, part of the 2025/26 UK-Middle East Cohort said: “We wanted to explore the opportunities in the Middle East, particularly with theatre waiting lists and inefficiencies being such a huge issue globally. We went into the first mission aiming to listen and learn about the healthcare delivery system and we found the experience to be highly aligned with our products and processes. There is nothing like being on the ground to start building relationships with insurers, health systems, and professional bodies."

Applications for the ABHI US Accelerator and ABHI Middle East Accelerator are open from 8 September to 8 November 2025.
