NHS 10-Year Plan Published, With HealthTech Vital To Delivering The Vision

Topic : News and Press Type : Briefing

The NHS has unveiled its 10-Year Health Plan, marking a pivotal shift towards a preventative, community-centred healthcare model across England. At its core, the plan aims to enhance care through personalised, accessible, and sustainable services, leveraging advanced technologies.

Key highlights of the plan include the establishment of new neighbourhood health services that integrate diagnostics, mental health support, rehabilitation, pharmacy services, nursing, and post-operative care within centralised hubs nationwide. This initiative seeks to streamline care delivery, making it more cohesive and responsive to the needs of patients.

Many of these ambitions closely reflect the priorities ABHI has long championed through our Manifesto for HealthTech. In particular, the Plan echoes our calls to:

  • Professionalise innovation and adoption, embedding technology into care pathways at scale.
  • Deliver a world-leading regulatory system, supporting safe, rapid access to cutting-edge solutions.
  • Adopt a longer-term, sustainable approach to investment in HealthTech, ensuring companies have the certainty to drive continuous improvement.

Central to the success of this transformative agenda will be robust national and local partnerships, fostering collaboration between the NHS, healthcare professionals, and industry stakeholders. ABHI is poised to play a pivotal role in driving these initiatives forward, drawing on the extensive networks we have developed over many years with NHS partners and regional stakeholders.

The devices, diagnostics, and digital solutions that members provide will, if adopted and scaled effectively, be the means to deliver more flexible, joined-up care, empower people to take greater control of their health, and help services respond to growing demand.

The publication of the Life Sciences Sector Plan is also expected shortly, and together, these two strategies will create a strong foundation to advance the growth agenda. However, for this opportunity to be realised, it will be essential to embed a supportive regulatory environment, effective procurement processes, a clear focus on delivery, and close partnerships with industry at every stage.

We are continuing discussions with the team responsible for the Plan on how industry will be involved in designing new commissioning models, how neighbourhood-level partnerships will work in practice, and how innovation and adoption can be embedded from the outset.

In addition, we will be adding further content and resources related to the 10-Year Health Plan to this page, ensuring members have access to up-to-date insights, guidance, and analysis as implementation progresses.
