OLS Announces "Boosted" Accelerated Access Collaborative

The Office for Life Sciences has today announced that the Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) will be "boosted" to deliver on the remit outlined in the second Life Sciences Sector Deal. Read more here.

The AAC's improved function is designed to enable more patients to access HealthTech by accelerating the adoption and use of transformative technologies. Importantly, its development represents the consolidation of innovation policy within NHS England, something ABHI has long called for.

The appointment of Dr Sam Roberts to lead this work is also welcome. Her role in the NHS Long Term Plan was crucial and regular input into key forums, such as the Health Technology Partnership, has enabled an understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

We are pleased to have collaborated with the AAC since its inception and look forward to it providing strong leadership across the national bodies to strengthen the process for rapidly spreading innovation and best practice. A breakdown of AAC's key objectives and functions will also be included in my monthly update tomorrow.
