Arab Health – A Gateway to the Middle East
In this ABHI blog, Jonathan Chapper, CEO of Philip Chapper & Company, tells us why exhibiting at Arab Health is a key part of their annual calendar.
Like many other UK MedTech companies, the Middle East is a key market for us. We have over the decades developed robust relationships with existing distributors and clients there, a network which has been built up over many years.
Throughout this time, it has been clear to see that business in the Middle East is carried out in a very different manner compared to other parts of the world.
Business relationships are formed to a greater extent on mutual friendship and trust, with many Arabs preferring to do business with people they know and like. Face-to-face meetings and verbal communications are also a key part of Middle Eastern culture. Often, verbal commitments are more valued than written contracts and agreements.
For Philip Chapper & Company, exhibiting at Arab Health is a key part of our calendar. The congress is the largest healthcare exhibition in the Middle East and is a gateway to unite medical practitioners and healthcare professionals with leading manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors.
It gives us the opportunity to network with existing customers and distributors and show them our latest products. Each year we learn more about our customers and relationships are deepened.
Philip Chapper & Company, exhibiting at Arab Health 2017
Many people in the Middle East specifically look for UK companies as they prefer to buy quality products from trusted manufacturers and suppliers in a language that they understand. That’s why it’s so important to us to be part of the UK Pavilion at Arab Health. It represents quality, expertise and clinical excellence.
We have also found being present in the ABHI UK directory to be a successful marketing tool - it signposts visitors to our stand. Having the Department for International Trade present on the ABHI stand is also beneficial as they are able to make connections to people in different countries and introduce us to key opinion leaders.
I am proud to say that our first customer was from the MENA region and today, over 40 years later, they still remain a loyal and valuable customer. There is no doubt that Arab Health has helped play a key part in our growth and we are very much looking forward to being part of the UK Pavilion once again at Arab Health 2018.
