The Neurosciences Special Interest Section (Neuro SIS) of the
Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) represents
manufacturers of some of the most specialised interventional
equipment in modern clinical practice.
The group was convened at the end of 2004 following a clearly
identified need of the suppliers of these technologies.
Implantable technologies used by neurosurgeons, anaesthetists,
urologists and others, are used in the treatment of conditions such
as epilepsy, pain, Parkinson’s Disease, dystonia and neurological
disorders.
Overview of conditions and technology
Nicola Pickard of Cyberonics Europe sa/nv currently chairs the
group and the aim is to meet on a quarterly basis or more
frequently if the need arises.
