Space on the UK pavilion at Arab Health NOW ON SALE:

24-27 January 2011, Dubai
www.arabhealthonline.com

Arab Health is the largest healthcare exhibition in the Middle East, and now one of the largest in the world.

Space on the UK pavilion at Arab health went on sale last week, 50% of which has already been sold. This is indicative of Arab Health's increasing popularity.

The show provides a platform for the world's leading manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors to meet the medical and scientific community in the Middle East, and beyond.

Arab Health is a key event in ABHI's international calendar. 2010 saw ABHI taking its largest ever pavilion at the show. Companies interested in the Middle East realise the importance of having a presence there, and for many newcomers to the market it is a first step to selling in the region.

News from FCO; Market Updates from Commercial Officers:

ABHI has requested UKTI Commercial Officers from Denmark, Finland, Kuwait and Russia to provide up-to-date reports of activities and opportunities within their respective markets.

DENMARK:
The Danish Healthcare Sector
Overview of the purchasing structure

In 2006, the Danish Government adopted a reform on local and regional government. The reform shaped a new territorial structure for the Danish healthcare sectors, which meant that 14 counties were abolished, and five regions were established. The five regions’ main area of responsibility is the administration and development of each region’s public hospitals and institutions within the social care area. More

FINLAND:
After World War II and the public health crisis of the 1960s, the Finnish healthcare system recreated itself and is now widely considered one of the leading national health systems.

The Finnish system, although resembling those in other Nordic countries, is more decentralised and mixed in funding. More

KUWAIT:
Kuwait’s economy is heavily dependent on oil revenue which account for almost 50% of GDP, more than 80% of government revenue and over 90% of export earnings. The Kuwaiti government is keen on reducing the dependence on crude oil revenue, and this objective is manifested in its strategy to increase investments in downstream industries of the oil sector and also through promoting the role of the private sector and privatisation. More

RUSSIA:
In Russia the healthcare system mostly relies on public funding. Spending is increasing (88,4 billion rubles was allocated from the Federal budget for 2008).
