Healthcare Trade Mission to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand:
10 - 18 September 2009
UK Trade and Investment is leading a healthcare mission to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand to help UK companies address the wide ranging opportunities in these markets. The mission will visit each country for two days, starting in Singapore (10-11 September), moving onto Malaysia (14-15 September) and ending in Thailand (16-18 September) to coincide with Medical Fair in Bangkok previously known as HOSPIMedica.
Each market will offer a general briefing for the companies, as well as an opportunity to present their products and services to an invited audience, followed by a networking reception. Companies will also have free time to pursue their own appointments.

Energising Innovation and Investment within the Global Medtech Industry
The Medical Technology Innovation Centre at the University of Hertfordshire led by Dr Sandeep Shah of the Tarilian Group held a very successful inaugural International Medtech Symposium. With delegates from USA, Canada, Europe and Asia, and company representation from J & J, Medtronic, 3M as well as a range of SMEs - the Symposium attracted a great deal of interest.
The event opening plenary was led by ABHI's CEO Peter Ellingworth who gave the audience an expert insight into his view of the evolving new medtech world.
The event had 11 plenaries and 47 international speakers covering topics from Medtech innovation, corporate strategy, regulation, manufacturing, market adoption strategies, intellectual property management to the medtech value chain and finance. A key part of the Symposium covered new financial strategies for growth in this sector with speakers from across the investment community.
The Office of Life Sciences and the UKTI also explained the new medtech focus in UK government strategies.
