Life Sciences Announcements:
The Budget Report “Focusing on Innovation” section highlighted the UK science and research base and its place in future prosperity, referring to the work of the Office for Life Sciences (OLS).
ABHI actively participated in the unfolding of the OLS. Of this year’s budget announcements, ABHI’s Chief Executive, Peter Ellingworth said:
ABHI will continue its involvement with the OLS work programme, and strive to turn the announcements into tangible business benefits for the medical technology sector.
Announcements included a Strategic Investment Fund, Access to Capital Growth, Tax & Innovation, the Technology Strategy Board, Public Procurement Schemes, Life Sciences (specifically Government’s response to the Cooksey Report) and, importantly, for UK exporters the Supporting of Exports. The budget calls on public services to make efficiency savings. More ...

If any of you are not presently selling to Saudi Arabia and would like to, please e-mail: theresa.ashford@abhi.org.uk

The most successful companies have common business practices and procedures for their export business, but also understand that a flexible approach, and the ability to adapt their management style, is required to meet cultural and local norms.

Australia represents a large and highly advanced medical device market. The country has a large number of medical device manufacturers, although these tend to be relatively small and concentrate on niche markets.
New Zealand represents a small but highly developed market for medical equipment. The country has a well-developed health infrastructure, and facilities are of a generally high standard. The best access to the market is through the appointment of a local agent.
