Smart Tagging in Healthcare
Focusing on smart tags on people,
pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumables and assets, a one-day
conference exploring the potential of Smart Healthcare Tagging will
be held at the Institute of Electrical Engineers, London on Monday
29 April.
Hosted by the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI)
and IDTechEx and sponsored by Innovision Research & Technology,
the conference will consider the application of smart tagging to
administer, track, and store results in Pathology laboratories.
Case studies will demonstrate how this technology can greatly
reduce costs, time to process and error rates.
Technologies covered include Radio Frequency Identification (RFID),
antitheft tags, speaking labels, new smart inks revealing
pathogens, viruses and degradation of vaccines.
Gordon Aylward, Director-General at the ABHI said: The Smart
Tagging in Healthcare conference is the perfect opportunity for
professionals across the healthcare spectrum to bring them up to
date with the very latest developments in the Healthcare Tagging
environment. Crucially, the conference will also consider how smart
labels can save lives, reduce errors and costs, improve health and
lead to new services. This effectively means we are looking at
innovation shared across healthcare sub-sectors.
Speakers include Texas Instruments (UK), Hitachi (UK), Innovision
(UK), Medipus (UK), St Lukas Clinic (Germany), The Modernisation
Agency, NHS (UK), AstraZeneca (Italy), GlaxoSmithKline (Italy),
Proxximity (UK), Accumen Business Solutions (UK), Flying Null (UK),
IDTechEx (UK), Elpas (Israel) and Applied Digital Solutions
(USA).
A pre-conference workshop will also take place at the Institute of
Electrical Engineers on Monday 28 April. The workshop is
effectively a full day of consultancy, aimed at all delegates to
make them aware of innovations being developed, and give them the
chance to handle actual samples exclusively available at the
workshop, see demonstrations and have their questions answered by
industry experts.
