NEW APPOINTMENTS FOR MHRA ANNOUNCED AT ABHI
CONFERENCE
London. Professor Alistair
Breckenridge today announced the new non-executive appointees for
the board of the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory
Agency).
The newly appointed Non Executive Directors are:
? Professor Angus Mackay, Mental Health Service Director /
Consultant Psychiatrist at the Argyll and Bute Hospital
? Mr Michael Fox, Chief Executive of the Prince of Wales'
Foundation for Integrated Health
? Miss Shelley Dolan, Nurse Consultant in Cancer & Critical
Care at the Royal Marsden NHS Trust;
? Mr Charles Kernahan, until recently Vice President Marketing
EMEA, ConvaTec which is a division of Bristol Myers Squibb Inc.
? Mr Garry Watts, a qualified chartered accountant currently
employed as Finance Director of SSL International plc
? Ms Lisa Arnold who is currently involved on a voluntary basis
with RAFT, a medical research charity, acting as a trustee and
sitting on the Council of Management.
The Association of British Healthcare Industries welcomed this
announcement. Director of Regulation Michael Kreuzer, OBE said:

MHRA is evolving and that these high profile appointments have
included representatives from the medical devices industry. The

the excellent regulatory framework that is envied across
Europe"
Professor Breckenridge was speaking at the 11th Annual ABHI
Conference on Medical Device Regulation held in London today where
the other subjects on the conference programme included an update
on the European Commission Directive from both DG Enterprise and
the MHRA and the Global Harmonisation Task Force and Global Medical
Device Nomenclature.
