Advertorial 8. Opening the Doors to India - Opportunities and Challenges of Offshoring Medical DevicesCurrently valued at approximately US$5.6 billion (The Medical Device Market: United Kingdom – Espicom 31 Jan 2007) the UK market for medical devices is the third largest market in Europe. It represents a promising opportunity for manufacturers and service providers. But with this opportunity comes the added pressure for medical device companies to stay ahead of the competition. In order to gain a competitive edge, medical device companies are faced with the challenge of developing new, innovative products or new versions of existing products that adopt the latest methods of treatment and conform to the highest quality standards — all at a reduced cost. To compete in this attractive market, many medical device companies are prospering by partnering with offshore outsourcing companies and collaborating on medical device development and manufacturing See: 'Door to India' document.
