1. Editor's Comment:
We are delighted to announce that the e-newswire has
been shortlisted for a Trade Association Forum Award.
ABHI’s intention from the outset has been to make the
e-newswire as interactive and widely read as possible, and it
is pleasing to note the increasing level of interest
and subscriptions.
If looking to exhibit at HOSPIMedica Thailand, this is your last call! Item 10 below
gives information on how to sign up for this show.
If HOSPIMedica Thailand is not of interest to you, we would be
interested in learning why; we would also like to
know at which exhibitions you would like us to take UK
pavilions. Please send any suggestions
or comments to exhibitons@abhi.org.uk.
In the meantime, for those attending the Commercial Officers’
Briefing, we look forward to seeing you next month in
Nottingham!
Theresa

4. Egypt: Importation Rules for
Sterile Devices
ABHI has been informed by a member company that they have been
subject to more stringent importation rules for sterile devices
imported into Egypt since the start of the year. Sterilisation
certificates have been required for single-use, sterile products
being imported into the country for many years, however the company
has found that the extent of the information now requested in terms
of content and time to collate and maintain the declarations has
significantly increased to a level that is impacting their
business.
The ABHI is seeking to find whether this is an issue for other
exporters. If you are having similar issues please could you
contact: theresa.ashford@abhi.org.uk

7. China Seminar: 21 June
2007

See: Booking Form.
See: Seminar Agenda.
This seminar focuses specifically on the city of Tianjin, which
together with Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing, is one of only four
"provincial level cities" in China - reporting directly to central
government.
Now, with the creation of the Tianjin Economic and Technology
Development Area (TEDA), a state-level development zone, Tianjin's
goal is to become a new international centre for modern industry.
TEDA is committed to working with foreign companies.
Over 33,000 companies have settled in TEDA since it was
inaugurated in 1984, investing a total of USD 15 billion, and those
companies have reaped the rewards of choosing TEDA; At 15% over the
last five years, TEDA's return on investment is the highest in
China.
