Issue 21

1. Introduction:

Last month ABHI visited HOSPIMedica India in New Delhi. Seven companies accompanied ABHI to a series of Spectaris-organised business meetings, held at the event.  In this E-newswire Cardionetics representative, Chris Francis, writes of his HOSPIMedica experiences.

More recently, ABHI exhibited at the Spring CMEF fair held in Dalian, China. See below.

This issue also highlights an ABHI working lunch (14.05.07) looking at Asia, beyond China and India. Now almost a decade since the Asian crash, why not re-consider the South East Asian hub?

Other dates for diaries are:

24.05.07 - ABHI's Export Club focusing on the Middle East

29.05.07 - An opportunity to meet with the Vice-Consul, Global Development, World Bank & Inter-American Development Bank Liaison Officer for UKTI based in the British Embassy, Washington DC

Finally, an up-date on ABHI exhibitions:

2. ASEAN Markets Briefing including HOSPIMedica Thailand:

14 May, 2007 12.00 - 2.30*:

Recent years have placed China and India at the forefront of Asian focus. Not to be overlooked, however, are other markets - the one-time 'tigers' - of  the S. E. Asian hub.  This is particularly apparent when one considers the population sizes and GDP healthcare expenditures involved.

See Espicom''s Statistics at the end incorporating:

  • % sums spent on healthcare
  • number of hospital beds and
  • major causes of death

covering six of the key markets - Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam.

ABHI is to hold an ASEAN Markets Briefing / Working Lunch at its offices on Monday, 14 May.

See: Complete and return Flyer to attend the Briefing.

Please note the briefing will cover HOSPIMedica Thailand, but will also include the Asian markets generally.

* Please also note the change of time for all those already signed up to attend

3. SPECTARIS-organised meetings at HOSPIMedica India '07:

Chris Francis, Cardionetics was one of seven company representatives who participated in a series of business meetings at HOSPIMedica India last month.

"The exhibition is, probably, the most supported and attended of the medical equipment exhibitions in India.  It is based on the European style with some standard shell schemes and some individual stands for larger companies"  .............

See: Hospimedica India Report.

4. CMEF '07:

CMEF 2007

The Chinese market is fast becoming a superpower in the medical device arena.  Enterprising companies have minimised their market entry risks to capitalise on its huge potential, and secure their market share.

 Paul Benton, Events Marketing Manager

The CMEF has established itself as the pivotal exhibition for the Chinese market.  The Spring Fair, once again, proved successful for exhibitors seeking valuable industry contacts.

Many exhibitors, having experienced the vibrant business climate, realise the huge potential the market has to offer.

See: UK'CMEF07 Exhibitors.

ABHI hopes to take a pavilion at the Spring CMEF 08. Will you be joining us?
